IWCC Sophomore Women's Basketball Player Signs with Benedictine College

Jillian Flores, a sophomore on Lady Reivers basketball team, will continue her basketball career at Benedictine College. Flores signed the letter of intent to play for the Lady Ravens in the Heart of America Conference this coming season.

Flores graduated in May from Iowa Western with academic honors and an Associate of Arts in Psychology. Flores was a presidential scholar for both years as a student-athlete at IWCC. Along with participation in women's basketball, she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa for two years. Flores was honored as a NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American with a 3.90 grade point average and honorable mention for the 2009 NATYCAA (National Alliance of Two Year College Athletics) Scholar Athlete of the Year.

"Jillian is an intelligent player with a great work ethic." Head Coach Jim Turgeon said. "Her knowledge of the game has developed and she continues to work hard on her inside game. She is the complete student-athlete, exactly what we look for in our program. Jillian works hard on and, more importantly, in the classroom. I think she will continue to get better and have a tremendous influence on the Lady Ravens program."
