Iowa Western head women's basketball coach Jim Turgeon is pleased to announce the signing of two international players, Katja Kotnik and Linda Rubene, for the Lady Reivers next season.

Katja Kotnik, 6'3" post player from Ljubljana, Slovenia, will add great inside presence for the Lady Reivers.  Kotnik placed 2nd at the Slovenian National Championship in 2005.   Her team placed runner up at the High School All-Slovenian Basketball Championships in 2008 and 2009. Kotnik also played for the SLO All-Stars her junior year and placed 3rd in the SLO cup competition in 2009.

"We are very excited to have a player of Kat's talent and potential joining our team," Turgeon commented. "She is mobile and athletic and will fit into our system perfectly."

The Lady Reivers also signed Linda Rubene, a 6'2" shooting guard from Gukbene, Latvia. Rubene finished 1st place in the Latvian School Basketball Championship in 2007, 2008 and 2009. 

Head Coach Jim Turgeon said, "We are very excited to have Linda here next year. She will help us tremendously with her 3 point shooting ability and overall basketball knowledge.  She has played at a very high level in Europe and has experienced much success. We look forward to working with her and seeing her accomplish great things here at Iowa Western."
